What metrics should my product focus on?

A metric is a measure of how well a website is developing. You can easily see changes in metrics on the dashboard page, and quickly understand how your website is operating.

The key focus metrics need to be based on the nature of your business and the stage of the product. In general, the nature of the business can be divided into two categories:

  1. The nature of the transaction, focusing on trading volume, users and transaction amount.
  2. The nature of the community ,focuses on traffic, users and content.

The stage of the product can also be broadly divided into two categories:

  1. Growth period, pay attention to the new visit rate.
  2. Mature period, concerned about the retention rate.

So, depending on your business nature and product stage, you can easily find key metrics, if your product is nature of community and in its growth period, so it’s especially important for to focus on new users’ traffic ,so you can focus on new visits and new user’s access behavior.
