Is it necessary to put Ptengine’s tracking code on all the web pages that users passes to measure conversion?

It depends on what you want to analyze.

  1. When there is no need to install Ptengine’s tracking code on all web pages that the user passes.

If you only need to measure the number of CV and you don’t need to filter by CV name, you can simply put the tracking code to its goal page. However if you intended to measure funnel page,  you need to install the tracking code on the funnel page as well.

  1. When you need to install Ptengine’s tracking code on all web pages that the user passes (When you want to perform analysis with “Filter by CV name”)

“Filter by CV name” is when you want to segment the user who reached the goal page with CV setting, see numerical data, or view the heatmap. If the tracking code is not installed on the page through which the user is passing, there is a possibility that the session expires and the filter is not in effect.

If you want to filter by CV name, please install Ptengine’s tracking code on all web pages that users pass for all of the following cases:

  • Crossing either domain nor subdomain
  • Crossing subdomains
  • When crossing a domain

An example where “Filter by CV name” does not work well:

Users come in to the website

Entry page · · · tracking code

Item A Detailed page · · · tracking code

Item B detailed page · · · No Tracking code

Item C Detailed page · · · tracking code

Shopping cart (cart) · · · tracking code

Purchase process 1 · · · tracking code

Purchase process 2 · · · tracking code

Purchase process 3 · · · tracking code

Purchase completed (Thanks page) · · · tracking code

※ This page is set as the conversion page.

As mentioned above, if there is a web page that does not contain a tracking code in the middle, there is a possibility that “filter by CV name” will not work properly.
