Domain Structure: Main Domains, Subdomains, and Subdirectories

Main Domain Name
Also called a first-level domain name, it typically has only one dot (point) like mysite.com . Subdomains appear before this domain name.

Subdomain Name
A domain name that appears before the main domain name, creating multiple dots in the full domain. For example, domain.mysite.comis a second-level subdomain name.

Third-level Subdomain Name
Created by simply adding new content before "domain" in addresses like help.domain.mysite.com. An N-level subdomain name is added before the (N-1) subdomain name.

Directory
Similar to folders that indicate locations on a computer, directories are path strings. mysite.com is generally considered the root directory of a website. Subdirectories exist under the root directory, and their link format typically adds a "/" after the domain name, such aswww.mysite.com/agent, where "/agent" is a subdirectory.

Note:With Ptengine, you only need to add the main domain name to track all subdomains and subdirectories under that main domain.
