Clarification on “AND” VS “OR”

There are many cases where multiple conditions are mixed when setting in user group, goal, and campaign. In this article you will find answers to them.

User Group and Goal setting #

When multiple contents are in the same filter:

  • 1If the condition is positive (contains, exact match), it becomes an "OR" relationship.
  • ※ Example: If you set as follow, you are trying to segment those who visited x.ptengine.jp OR x.ptengine.jp/app.

  • 2If the condition is negative (does not contain, does not match exactly), it becomes an "AND" relationship.
  • ※ Example: If you set as follow, you are trying to segment those who visited website not through the entry page of ptengine.jp AND not through the entry page of ptengine.jp/blog.

When set multiple filters:

    It becomes an "AND" relationship.

※ Example: If you set as follow, you are trying to segment those who registered before year 2021 AND visited the website in this month.

Campaign setting #

When set multiple goals:

  • Each goal will be independent.
  • ※ Example: If you set as follow, you will have 2 goals that later on after campaign launched, you can track both of them seperately.

When set audience by multiple user groups:

  • It becomes an "OR" relationship.
  • ※ Example: If you set as follow, those who belong to any of the 2 user groups are campaign audience。

When set page group by multiple page conditions:

  • It follows the rule of user group setting or goal setting.

When set audience by multiple conditions of current visit:

  • It follows the rule of user group setting or goal setting.

Creative trigger is basically "OR" relationship.

※ Example: If you set as follow, any condition is met, the campaign will fire (stop).
