Get started with user group #

In this section, we will introduce what User Groups are, how to set them up in Ptengine, and how to leverage their value.

What are User Groups? #

User Groups are created by segmenting users with similar characteristics and behaviors. This enables you to extract the most value based on your business needs and deliver targeted experiences to different user groups at the most appropriate moments.

You can segment User Groups based on multiple dimensions, including:

  • User Journey: Segment user groups by stage in their customer journey.
  • User Behavior: Segment users based on activity level and frequency. Examples: Users who visited multiple times without adding to cart, users who added to cart multiple times but did not complete purchase, etc.
  • Campaigns/Experiences: Segment users based on campaign or Experience participation. Examples: Users who participated in a promotional campaign, users acquired through different campaign channels, etc.

How to set up user group #

We can quickly understand the overall situation of our site in the user group interface.

Set a new user group

We can also design personalized user groups according to our business needs.

We go to the user tag in Experience and click Create User Group.

On the User Group settings page, the first step is to define the name of your User Group.

Then, you can further refine your User Group using various dimensions such as URL, Events, Visit Behavior, and Advertising Attributes.

After saving, we can quickly gain insight into user behavior in the user function.

You can leverage User Groups across multiple key areas:
