Visual event setting

Visual event setting #

The visual event setting feature allows you to set up events with no code while looking directly at the screen. We have made the process of event configuration as simple as possible, so you can easily select event elements without the help of a technical person!

First, enter the Event Settings page:

1:Select Web Page and open the web page for event settings.

There are three ways to select a web page: 1.

  1. Select the URL in ①.
  2. Select from the list of web pages displayed in the "After Parameter Removal" and "Original Page" lists.
  3. Search by title/URL (you can switch between "title" and "URL" in the search field)

2:Enter the event setting mode.

Selecting a web page will open the web page for event setting in a separate tab. Select the part of the web page where you want to set the event. When the mouse cursor is turned on, all the areas that are framed by red lines are available for event measurement.

3:Set the measurement target

When you click on an element, the number of clicks on the element in the past 7 days will be displayed. Here, you can choose between only applicable elements and custom settings.

Only applicable elements: Identify and select the position of this element in the HTML from body. For example, body > div:nth-child(5) > div:nth-child(2) > div:nth-child(1) > button:nth-child(3). Also, the id attribute of an element takes the id directly, regardless of the order of the elements. Therefore, if a configuration element has an id attribute, we recommend using "only the relevant element".

Custom: Identifies elements according to tags, according to the following rules: Same tag: Identifies elements with the same HTML tag.
Same tag: Identifies elements that have the same HTML tag. If you modify the tag of an element in a page modification, the modified element will not be identified.
Same tag: Identifies elements with the same class. If the class of an element is modified in a page modification, the modified element will no longer be identified.
Same URL link: Identifies the same URL. If the URL of the element is modified in the page modification, the modified element will not be identified.
Same text: Identifies elements with the same text content. If the text content of the element is modified in the page modification, the modified element will not be identified.

Ignore DOM structure: In its default state, it will measure all elements in the same block according to the rules above; if turned on, the scope will extend to everything in the page. (e.g., if a random image (img tag) is clicked, and the element selection rule is "same tag", all images in this page will be identified as event targets if "Ignore DOM structure" is turned on).

4:Set the event name and measurement range.

After setting the elements to be measured, enter the screen to set the event name and measurement range.

Event name setting

There is a 20-character limit. The limit is 20 characters regardless of whether you use half-width characters, full-width characters, or a mixture of half-width and full-width characters.

If you set a different page element as an event and name it with the existing event name as shown in the image below, it will not be added as a new event in the admin panel, but saved as an existing event.

Therefore, by adding another element, you can measure a wider range of events on top of the existing ones. Please note that if the same element is set in duplicate, the measurement will also be duplicated.

Measurement range

The measurement range options are as follows.

Applicable domain: Usage of content elements that are common within the relevant domain. For example, the number of clicks on the share button.
Pertinent page: Total number of events for the page URL selected in step 1 above.
URL rules: Specify the URL to be measured using one of the following methods: "include", "regular expression", "forward match", "backward match", or "exact match". Usage of the same content element on multiple pages. Example) Number of clicks on favorite buttons on multiple product pages. For more details, please refer to URL Rule Details.

When you are done with the settings, click "Confirm".
For events that have already been set up, you can check and delete them in "Settings" >> "Events". Note that you can only delete or modify notes for events that have already been set up, and you cannot edit the event name or other information.

Toolbar in Event Settings mode #

  1. In the upper left corner, there is an on/off function for the event setting mode. The default is on, and if you turn it off, you can move the web page to a different page for setting, or open a hamburger menu, accordion, or popup to set hidden elements.

  2. The hide button in the upper right corner allows you to hide the toolbar. (Please refer to the image.) Click the green arrow to return to the original state.

  3. From Preconfigured Events, you can see the list of events that have been configured on this URL page. Elements that have already been configured for events on this page will be colored as shown below.
