Set up Ptengine code

Note:If you already have a Ptengine account and also set up your Ptengine code, you do not have to read this article.

What is Ptengine code? #

If you want to track user behavior on your website, you need to add tracking code to your website pages,You couldn't collect data without tracking code, and in Ptengine such code is called Ptengine code.

The 3 levels of personalization #

  • 1Behavioral Data Collection
    You can collect user behavior data and track all browsing behavior of each user who visits your website through installing Ptengine code. Behavioral data such as the number of PVs, bounce rate, and time spent on a page, browsing pages and entrance pages, visit type (new/revisit), URL and host of the inflow source, inflow campaign name, inflow campaign media, inflow campaign media, inflow campaign content, and inflow campaign content. Device (PC, smartphone, tablet) and manufacturer, OS type and version, browser type and version, resolution, regional information (country/region), etc.
  • 2Using Experience campaign editor section
    One of the essential parts of personalization is creative editing, which allows you to edit your web pages, and design pop-ups or stick bars within our Experience campaign editor section. The most important thing that is can only be done if the Ptengine code are installed on your website.

  • Running personalization
    After setting up the creative stuffs, target audience, schedule, and other conditions, click the "Save draft" button to save this campaign , and click “Set it live” button to set your campaign LIVE. The creative will work on your website if a visitor matchs the target criterion of the audience the campaign, including the rules that were set to limit the audience to test enviroment.

Set up Ptengine code manually #

Note:To complete this process, you must have access to your website source code, be comfortable editing HTML (or have a webmaster/developer who can help you) and have an Ptengine Experienc account.

  • 1Logging in to Experience, go to " Create a new project " and make sure a project property already set up.
  • 2Copy Ptengine code snippet which bellows to this project.
  • 3Paste Ptengine code snippet into every web page that you want to track, starts with <head> and ends with </head>.

Warning:You have to paste the Ptengine code into all the pages you want to track.

・Access the website and use the File Transfer Protocol to access the host server
・Paste the Ptengine code into the page of the website you want to track
・Save all settings

Add tracking using Google Tag Manager

  • 1 Click "Quick install with Google Tag Manage" button on intall Ptengine code page.
  • 2Login/Sign in your Google Tag Manager account to continue to Ptengine setting.
  • 3Allow the 4 permissions requested and confirm your choices by Google Tag Manage.


  • 4To add the Ptenngine code snippet to your container in Google Tag Manager and publish the container.The message "Ptengine Experience has already been installed with Google Tag Manager" will be displayed, means Ptenngine code has been installed successfully.

Make sure that the tracking snippet installed on your website matches the code shown in the view, and see more ways that you can verify your setup.
